Dear Readers,
This issue is
filled with enthusiastic people and interesting products who
are at the cutting edge of creativity and social commitment
in the Food and Beverage Business. The wine country festivals
and benefits this year were able to raise millions of dollars
for to fund organizations that fight hunger, fund the arts and
mental health research. In fact, some of the past recipients
of the Mental
Health Grant from the Staglin Vineyards Event turned
out to win a Nobel Prize. It's impossible to mention everyone's
name that helped make these events such huge successes. Everyone
at Wolfgang
Puck's American Wine & Food Festival, the Sonoma
Wine Auction, Napa
Wine Auction, and Central
Coast Wine Auction and all the other events we cover
in this issue get everyone's enthusiastic congratulations. Winston
Churchill said, "Nothing great was ever accomplished without
enthusiasm."
The enthusiasm
that the event organizers and Chefs brought to those events
is the same as the enthusiasm Chef
Jody Denton brings to the cover article by breaking
ahead of the pack with his rule bending Nine Bites Appetizer.
Next the incredibly talented Chef
Thomas Keller demonstrates two elaborate recipes
from his successful cookbook. The
Indian Food article showcases the vitality of those
Chefs preparing the cuisine of this region. Join us to see more
exotic Asian flavors at the International Flavors of India and
Asia Conference on November 9th at the CIA
Greystone.
This issue, we
welcome Isabella Diangelo's first article from Rome
and we start wine and food recipe pairings by Chef Nick Zielke,
(any recipe ideas are welcome send email to mwalsh@slip.net).
Nutrafoodies
continues to expand coverage of the important issues in fresh
organic foods, with Ellen Walsh's insightful coverage of the
CIA's
Chef Collaborative Conference. Read further for the
good news on the sustainability of the Alaska
Salmon Industry, followed by articles on this year's
hazelnut
harvest. Everyone talks about quality, but read about
how far J.R.Woods goes to ensure that the peaches
you eat are as sweet as can be and absolutely contamination
free. For other recipes and information look at our ever expanding
website fbworld.com. We look forward to your enthusiastic comments.
A friend passed
away this month. Donna Hoye was smart, enthusiastic and everyone
who knew her will miss her.
Enthusiastically
yours,
