Introduction to Wild Planet Seafood Company
Featuring minimal mercury albacore, wild caught salmon and shrimp

Naturally high in protein and DHA EPA Omega 3 Fatty acids, each two ounce serving OF WILD PLANET'S ALBACORE provides upwards of 1700 milligrams of EPA/DHA Omega 3 fatty acids.

Wild Planet carefully selects the best handled, highest grade Albacore caught in the Pacific Northwest and sends them to their custom micro cannery in Washington State. There, the crew hand cuts the loin strips from the fish in their raw state. These loins are then sliced into medallions and hand placed into the cans. After adding only sea salt, the can is sealed and then cooked, trapping all the delicious juices and precious oils of the fish itself. The result is a moist, firm, delicious tuna steak in a jar (or can). The EPA/DHA Omega 3 content is fully potent, being 6 times greater than that of national brands.

While the positive benefits of Wild Planet albacore are clear, many consumers are hesitant to consume tuna heartily due to concerns of mercury exposure. It is true that albacore tuna can be elevated in mercury content if the fish in your jar (or can) was a larger older fish. National brands contain fish up to 70 lbs that can be 15 years old. These fish bio accumulate increasing concentrations of mercy throughout their life. Wild Planet directly unloads the fishing vessels in California, Oregon and Washington. These migratory fish are only 3 - 5 years old and range in size from 9 - 30 lbs. In essence, all these fish are low in mercury compared to national brands.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch program rates the albacore troll and pole method as a Best Choice, environmentally preferable fishery.
