No visit to San
Francisco would be complete without a view of the beautiful, rugged,
hills overlooking the pounding surf of the Pacific Ocean. This
precious slice of heaven is only 75 miles north of San Francisco,
and you can rest your weary feet in your ocean view room, sipping
a glass of wine selected from The Inns well appointed wine list
of the Napa and Sonoma Valley wineries. This can be your chance
to see new sights, as well as collect your thoughts after a week
of pounding your feet on the tradeshow floors. You can accomplish
wonders in a short two day trip, with outdoor sports available,
but we prefer to cover the indoor sports in this short review.
The Inn at the
Tides & TheTides Wharf features two restaurants, a gift shop,
and a top rated fresh seafood market, representing the famous
catch of the deep, cold, Northern California waters, with a smattering
of the in season catches from around the world. Quality is the
name of the game here, as noted Executive Chef Ken Schloss prepares
dishes at the height of haute for your dining pleasure. Schloss
comes to The Inn at the Tides after years of world travels, offering
only the finest of recipes gathered throughout the world. However,
don't be surprised at an Italian accent, to complement the management
of 10 year General Manager Carlo Galazzo of The Inn at the Tides,
as demonstrated here at the Gloria Ferrer winemaker dinner, one
of the longest running winemaker dinner series in history. Here,
we learned first hand from winemaker Bob Iantosca; the process
that went into creating each of the wines paired that evening.
One
of the most beautifully paired dishes was the specially prepared
Risotto infused with fresh strawberries and Parmesan cheese, created
by Schloss to be paired with Gloria Ferrer's Brut Rose, a very
dry, pink , champenoise. The dinner continued with an innovative
presentation of Roasted Pancetta Wrapped Herbed King Salmon, topped
only with a delicate lemon butter sauce, paired with a 1998 Carneros
Estate Chardonnay, followed by Grilled Breast of Duck Medallions
with a Pinot Noir sauce, paired with a 1997 Carneros Estate Pinot
Noir. The sumptuous chocolate lovers dessert seen here is the
Orange Sunset, an orange mousse with chocolate spongecake, paired
with Blanc de Noirs.
As
with all great meals, they are not remembered for the cuisine
alone, but for the wonderful friends and acquaintances you meet
along the way. Hospitality at Inn at the Tides is an art, with
a staff of professionals, dedicated to creating a personal touch
to make your stay a lasting and memorable one. Whether your visit
is planned or unplanned, give them a call at 800 541 7788, and
tell them that Food and Beverage International sent you!!
