Zimmerman Named the "Wine & Spritits Examiner"
for the SF Examiner.com

Wine Writer and Educator Liza the Wine Chick is Tapped for
Exclusive San Francisco Drinks Coverage

(San Francisco˜June 16, 2008) Zimmerman has joined a team of online experts to share her opinions and expertise on wine and spirits trends, personalities and events in San Francisco. She will be posting her column three to four times a week along with other "Examiners" covering other topics, such as food, education and music.

The Examiner.com is rolling the website out in close to 60 U.S. cities and San Francisco is among the first five to have launched. Denver, Baltimore, Chicago and Seattle are also live. Zimmerman is the 23rd columnist to join the lineup.

Examiner.com editor George Shirk hopes to pump the total number of contributors up to several hundred within the next year.

The inspiration for the website comes from Examiner.com CEO Michael Sherrod, who directed communities at AOL when he was a vice president there. His vision is to create hyperlocal, social knowledge networks across the United States. Shirk calls it "a bold and exciting project that gives experts in their fields an increased opportunity to pass their knowledge on to others who are seeking it." The Examiner.com is part of the Clarity Media Group, which itself is a part of AEG Worldwide.

Zimmerman is "thrilled to have this unique opportunity to cover the drinks business in her hometown." She also promises "to bring her opinionated, lively writing style and 15 years experience in the drink's journalism trenches to the column."

Zimmerman spent 12 years as a wine and food magazine editor in New York and has contributed to dozens of publications including Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, Market Watch, The Magazine of La Cucina Italiana and Time Out New York, among others. She regularly contributes to Wine Business Monthly, In the Mix, Caviar Affair and Fodors.com.
