Wines of the Week: Bargain (New World) Bordeaux

After the holiday season and, no doubt, spending more money than planned with all the gifts and parties and wine that become part of all the festivities, it's nice (and sometimes necessary) to cut back a little bit. Thus, here are some lovely examples of New World Bordeaux that are sure to please your palate, without hurting your pocketbook too much.

A sip delivers flavors of ripe plum, bramble fruit, and dark cherry, alongside elements of toasty vanilla and minerals. Fruit driven and friendly, sip on its own or pair with pasta in a light Alfredo sauce.

Nicely layered for a Cab in its price range, there's something here for both connoisseurs and casual drinkers.

With a sip, flavors of blackberry, currant, and cherry envelop the palate, accented by toasty oak, cocoa, and minerals. Ripe and lush, fans of fruit driven Cabs will find something to like here.
